Step into the lounge
Inspired by Lonnie Liston Smith and his cosmic, echoing grooves I wanted to chart the changes from jazz to modern house, creating this stylish mix which imagines the kind of place i’d like spend an evening at. Expect groovy baselines.

Jungle Jazz
When I talk about my love for jungle or drum and bass people give me a look. The look says; “ohh you’re one of those… a disco-biscuit-munching nutcase”. They look at me even stranger when I make the argument it’s jazz.
Anyone that doesn’t agree needs to see Goldie and his incredible band live or the clips of Roni Size’s Brown Paper Bag back in the day.
If jazz is making sense of the unexpected; then the wild, looping, time-stretched amen breaks and wobbly bass lines of jungle are Picasso’s brush strokes creating faces, distorted by the rumblings of 1990s drum samplers.
Most of all I wanted to show how jungle can be elegant, serene and light rather than dark and heavy as most of the sesh-heads would prefer it. That’s why I love producers like Big Bud and LTJ Bukem: they use strings like composers. It’s yoga music for ravers.
